Learning is for Everyone (LIFE) is a credit recovery program offered at the Harllee Center. Students must be in their 3rd or 4th year of high school and be in need of an alternate path to graduation. All students in LIFE work toward a Standard High School diploma and must meet all course requirements and standardized test requirements set forth by the state of Florida.
We begin the school year with 120 seats that are available on a first-come first-served basis. There are 2 teachers for the LIFE program and there are 3 scheduled time sessions each day. The first session is 7:45–9:45, the second session is 9:45–11:45, and the third session is 12:45-2:45. Students select a session to attend and then attend at that time each day school is in session. All classes meet at Harllee Center and the program follows the SDMC's Board-approved school calendar. Students are also expected to work outside of school on their Edgenuity coursework at a pace that will see their on-time graduation.
Referrals to LIFE are made by the students’ zone high school and in some cases through the district DOP department. Referrals are reviewed by the LIFE administrator weekly. Students that are approved for attendance will be contacted by Ms. Boucher to set up a time to come in and register. It is very important to have correct contact information.
Registration will be done by the LIFE counselor where the student and their family meet, discuss current grades and credits, and make a plan to meet graduation requirements. Students are encouraged to gain employment as OJT credit is awarded and is helpful in building a stronger GPA.
We look forward to working with all students, their family and all high schools in the School District of Manatee County. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions throughout the school year.
