LIFE, or Learning Is for Everyone, is an alternative program designed to assist seniors who have fallen behind in credits and may not graduate on time with their cohort class. The daytime program features a blended model of instruction through an internet-based curriculum with a teacher on hand to assist students with their learning. The Life Program is now offered at two sites, Horizons Academy and The Harllee Center. Students must also obtain a job within two weeks of enrollment, have their own transportation, access to a computer and internet connection. Students must dedicate 15-20 hours weekly outside of class to meet graduation requirements. In lieu of employment, Life students have the option of choosing and attending a vocational program at Manatee Technical Center during the day. After completing their daily MTC vocational course; students work on their graduation requirements under the guidance of the Life staff.
Interested students and parents should contact their current guidance counselor for further information.
