Interns & Clinical Educator Program
-
SDMC has created partnerships with a wide range of colleges and universities to place and develop interns. As they begin their journey in the field of education, interns can expect a high level of support while experiencing best practices and educational technology.
Clinical Educator Training
-
This program is for certified instructional staff who are interested in growing their leadership skills to become a coach, school-based peer/mentor, or host an intern. Candidates must have five years' experience, three consecutive years of effective or highly effective summative ratings, and principal approval to be accepted. Teachers trained before 2018 must retake the course to become recertified to host mentors or interns. Training blends pre-work with face-to-face training for a total of 6 in-service hours.
The course concentrates on four main areas:
- Resilience
- Content Planning
- Observation
- Targeted Feedback
Internship Placement
-
Colleges and Universities must have an approved affiliation agreement with SDMC prior to placement. Interns must pass Level II screening prior to beginning their internship at SDMC.
All levels of intern placements must be coordinated by our Human Resources department. Student interns or professors should NOT contact school administrators directly for placement. Placements should NOT be forwarded directly to schools or content supervisors within the district by a college or university.
