School Health Advisory Committee
The mission of the Manatee County School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is to provide a collaborative forum (Health Department, School Board, and community at large) and to advise on the delivery of a coordinated school health program that addresses physical, social and emotional health of students and staff. A coordinated school health program supports student readiness to learn, succeed academically, and become productive and healthy citizens.
The School District of Manatee placed at the gold level for the Florida Healthy School District Award.
The Florida Healthy District Award was created by the Florida Partnership for Healthy Schools, formerly known as the Florida Coordinated School Health Partnership, to recognize school districts that have implemented policies, practices, and procedures that support health and remove barriers to learning.
The Healthier US School Challenge Award was given to Ballard Elementary, Kinnan Elementary, Miller Elementary, Mills Elementary, Oneco Elementary, Sea Breeze Elementary, and Stewart Elementary.
