N.U.B.S. is our student-led service-oriented group here at Oneco Elementary. The support comes mainly from Elks Lodge 2734. Beginning Elk antlers are commonly referred to as "Nubs" and that's how we got our name. The "pioneer" students from 2014-2015 created the acronym Never Underestimate Brave Students. They use the guiding principal of being the change they wish to see in the world. They work together to positively impact the world around them.
These are some of the projects that the N.U.B.S. have participated in:
- Making and distributing blankets for Veterans
- Recycling Initiative at Oneco
- Battery Drive for Toys for Tots
- Staff Appreciation celebrations
- Raising money for Families with Disabilities Network (400$)
- Campus clean up initiatives
- Supporting schoolwide after-hour events
- Helping with the hurricane shelter here at Oneco
- Raising money for Keeping Manatee Beautiful by joining in on a sand sculpting contest
- Alex's lemonade stand, raising awareness of childhood cancers
