The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities for the study of general concepts, theories, and processes relating to the earth/space sciences, and their applications through exploratory investigations and activities. The content should include, but not be limited to, the following: The nature of science, astronomy, the Earth as a system, weather, the ocean's environment, and the formation and properties of rocks and minerals.
Science 7
The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities to study concepts of life, earth/space science, and physical sciences, and their applications to everyday life. The concept should include, but not be limited to the following: The nature of science, the nature of matter, energy, force and motion, processes that shape the Earth, Earth and space, processes of life, and how living things interact with their environment. A science fair project and the scientific method will also be a part of this course.
Science 8
The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities to study concepts of life, earth/space science, and physical sciences. and their applications to everyday life. The content should include, but not be limited to the following: The nature of science 3, the nature of matter, energy, force and motion, processes that shape the earth, earth and space, processes of life, and how living things interact with their environment. Science projects and scientific method will also be a part of this course.
Advanced Science 6, 7, & 8
Designed for highly-motivated, responsible, above-average students who can read and work independently outside of class. Requires additional homework and out-of-class reading. Completion of a competitive science fair project for the school and district science fair is mandatory and counts as a significant portion of the school grade.
Physical Science 1 Honors
This is a high school dual enrollment course that affects the high school GPA. The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities to investigate the theories and ideas associated with the biological, earth, and physical sciences. As an honors level high school course, students will be expected to complete higher-level lessons, experiments, labs and projects. There will be outside reading and homework consistent with high school work and students should be prepared to complete more rigorous assignments. Students are required to develop a science fair project and compete in the school and district Science Fairs.
