In order to qualify for a Bright Futures Scholarship, as well as many other scholarship and grant opportunities, you must participate in community service. For more information on the importance of community service hours, please click on "Community Service FAQ."
Before you start working on earning hours, make sure you read and understand the Manatee County School District policy about the completion of projects.
The Palmetto High School Volunteer Service Coordinator is Mrs. Durshimer, A-D counselor. Please see her in Student Services for pre-approval of your hours. You can come in before or after school or during lunch. You may also reach her at durshimerm@manateeschools.net or 941-723-4848, ext. 34007.
Before you talk to Mrs. Durshimer, please familiarize yourself with the paperwork:
If you belong to a service club, such as Key Club or Interact, your sponsor or club president will get approval in advance. Please make sure you know their procedures about the processing of paperwork.
Please remember to check Schoology for updates on volunteer opportunities.
